We landed at the most inhuman time. Like zombies, we crawled through the emptish labyrinth of the airport and descended into its deepest dungeon to catch a bus. Its only passenger was a zombie as well. Circling in the tunnels for half an hour, the bus finally got out to the surface, alarming the day about the time to put a dimm light to the streets of Singapore.
We expected wide roads, tropical trees around them, huge skyscrapers on the horizon. Got it. We expected British heritage overwhelmed by surrounding glass and steel, water reflecting endless facades of finance world, cutting-edge urban metro super-system. Got it. We expected buddhist temples hidden in the old Chinatown, best Chinese food, zen-oriented parks. Got it too. Wealthiest citizens, biggest malls, best deals... Got an ipad (as expected).
Is it boring then? No! It's like an oracle telling you what you want and expect to hear. It's just fascinating.
